We Pride Ourselves in Being Logical
"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." - Hebrews 11:1
I find it so interesting what we will and won’t allow ourselves to believe. We know that light travels 186,000 miles a second, even though we’ve personally never measured it. A scientist can tell us that there 100 trillion stars in the sky, and we accept it without question. We accept as absolute fact that an atom has neutrons and electrons spinning around a nucleus, even though we have never seen any of them. We agree that Lincoln wrote the Gettysburg Address, and that E does, in fact, equal MC2. We pride ourselves in being logical creatures who demand proof before believing most things. How is it, then, that we accept all these things I mentioned as facts, without ever demanding the proof of their authenticity?
And why is it that so many of us will reject Jesus – risking our eternal souls, even when presented with solid proof? What proof, you may ask? The witness of thousands of people who saw the miracles of Jesus! Testimonies from dozens who witnessed His death, then saw Him alive after His resurrection. And what about the fulfillment of prophecies concerning Jesus? Even after being shown so much solid evidence, many enlightened people reject Jesus as “just some myth for the gullible.” In fact, the divinity of Jesus is just about the only thing people refuse to accept, even when evidence is overwhelming. Tell me, where is the logic in that? Logic goes out the window when people talk about Jesus, because that’s when it’s all about faith.
What about you? Are you willing to accept the truth of Jesus on faith? In fact, it’s the ONLY way you can accept Him. So, go ahead, take that leap of faith. Once you do, your life will be changed forever

A Good Budget to Follow
"For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." - Luke 12:34
What does Jesus say about money? Did you know there are over 800 Scriptures about it? Jesus says we have to choose between God and money. What? Well, He teaches us money management! He helps us master our money, rather than letting money master us, and He does it through these principles:
Spend less than you earn. Know where you stand with what you have and where you spend it.
Develop a budget plan. A good budget has five key considerations:
Giving to God. Begin here. Giving first shows you trust Him and not money.
Savings and Investments. This helps with short-term surprises and long-term needs.
Taxes. God’s Word tells us to pay what we owe.
Fixed Expenses. This includes things like mortgage, utilities, cars, etc.
Discretionary Spending. This includes entertainment, clothes, furniture, etc.
God’s ways for money management. They work.

self-esteem byitakeoffdmask

This article should have been titled “How To Increase Your Self-Esteem”, but I decided that instead of merely INCREASING one’s self-esteem, one should HEAL it completely in such a way as to forever cast away one’s futile efforts of increasing something that can never really be increased enough as to satisfy our wants. To say that our self-esteem is low is to compare it to something higher. But to be able to attain that higher degree could only mean that there is still something beyond that. How high is high enough? How much increase is really necessary? In truth, it is not an increase in self esteem that we should aim for, but a complete healing of our wounded sense of self worth. http://itakeoffthemask.com/relationships/a-different-way-to-heal-your-self-esteem/

Prenuptial Agreements, (Prenups) are intended to be legal instruments for agreeing on what should be done if and when a marriage ends. But what a prenup means is a totally different matter. It is not what they say, but what they mean that matters. And it’s why these reality checks can rip a hole in the romance of a relationship or at the very least expose hot love to a cold shower.

?ORIENTED THINKING

by Dan Short There is a type of thinking that is so deeply ingrained within Western culture that it seems the only way to think. In science-based education we are taught to advance toward defined outcomes by means of goal-oriented thinking. This type of thinking is a skill that enables us to improve our circumstances by setting goals, measuring progress and evaluating outcomes. It is like hiking. After taking a compass reading, you set your sight on a particular destination, such as a tall mountain, and then continually adjust your course so that you are moving in that direction. In a similar manner, goal-oriented thinking is essentially the use of cognitive maps to target a particular outcome combined with the assumption that this outcome will serve a useful purpose. http://behavior.net/2013/08/use-oriented-thinking/

Are you in a rut? At work, rework your schedule and rearrange tasks according to priorities. Delegate tasks to those who are willing and able. At home, spice things up with creativity, like rearranging furniture or trying new recipes. Get everyone involved in the new activities. Too much work? Add some fun! Take time to rest and rejuvenate, too. When you return, you are renewed with passion and energy

From a Distance: Making a Long-Distance Relationship Work People can’t control who they fall in love with and sometimes, they fall in love with people who live on the opposite side of the world. They end up in long-distance relationships. Love from a distance is no less valid, though it can be difficult to actually maintain a relationship. People have physical needs too. If you’ve decided on committing to a long-term, long-distance relationship, there are a few things you’ll need to know to make it work.

Living in the desert

"...the water I shall give him shall become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life." - John 4:14 If you’ve ever traveled through the desert, you’ll notice mile after mile of dry and barren landscape. Then suddenly, there’s a spot of green, some trees, bushes, and flowering plants. It always means there’s some kind of water source nearby. With water, the desert blossoms and comes to life. It is a beautiful site to behold. The same is true in our lives. Perhaps you are going through a very difficult time in your life right now where you are being tempted to “feel” like God has let you down – like He can’t be bothered with your heartache — like He has completely forsaken you and you are living in a desert. Without God, we tend to dry up when life gets hard. It saps us of all our energy, creativity and drive. We eventually feel beaten down, worn out, and dried up. But Jesus says, “I am living water; anyone who accepts me will never be thirsty again.” He wasn’t talking about physical thirst. He was talking about satisfying our spiritual thirst so we can blossom and come to life. What about it? Do you sometimes feel like a dry, dusty shrub in a desert of emptiness? Come to Christ and enjoy a cool drink of water whenever you need it

be free from bondage. Now is the time!

The soul of man is that part which is uniquely him. It is what we think of as the personality of man. The soul is the choices we make when we exercise our will. We learn the nature and character of a person by observing the expression of their soul through both their words and actions. These originate in a person’s soul. The soul must be conditioned daily (see 1 Peter 2:11; 1 Cor 9:27) and compelled to submit to the work of the cross in our lives. The mind is the part of the soul that holds the intellect, or the capacity to know things. The will is the capacity to exercise choice, make decisions, and push one towards self-preservation, and self-control (Acts 3:23 KJV). The emotions are the capacity to feel, or to experience. Desires are in the arena of the soul. The dysfunctional soul is carnal and is ruled by its desires. The Word refers to carnality as everything in man that is NOT under the control or dominion of the Holy Spirit, via your own yielded spirit. The proper soul is a submitted will, intellect and emotional being. Wrong relationships tie people’s lives together through a spiritual hold which can cause emotional and even physical damage. It is an unseen control on a person’s life that can powerfully pull them away from the place of peace that God desires for all of His children. This type of tie is called a soul tie. Let’s go over some signs of an ungodly soul tie: - An ungodly soul tie produces irrational thinking. Irrational means not capable of reasoning, having lost mental clarity, illogical. - An ungodly soul tie causes a person to evaluate themselves and others according to previous context. They can’t see outside of that relationship or mental paradigm. - An ungodly soul tie causes a person to shut down emotionally. - An ungodly soul tie produces an unhealthy, unnatural desire or attraction to people, places and things, even to the person’s detriment. - An ungodly soul tie will cause a lack of judgment and discernment. - An ungodly soul tie produces the inability to establish and maintain proper adult relationships. It is my intent by His will to bring forth the practicalities of personal reformation to free you from what has bound you. Like Lazarus, you can come forth… but still be bound! This is going to be YOUR life long work with the Holy Spirit while you are here on this earth as a believer, but I will by the grace of God equip you with the tools to be free and succeed in all that you reach for! Your Spirit man is transformed when you are born again (this was done by the work of the cross!) but your “soul” can still be bound. When you accepted Christ’s sacrifice for your sins and became a believer, only your spirit became perfectly aligned to the Spirit of God. The human soul is not renewed, saved or set free of it’s wrong patterns of thinking, it’s deception and denial, and it’s agendas because of a spiritual salvation experience. The mind, will and emotions must be continually renewed by the washing of the Word of God and by immersing itself in God’s Word and time in His presence with His Spirit. The soul must choose to surrender itself to the will of God. You can cause your soul to do this. If you would like to surrender to God, pray this prayer with me right now: “Father God, I come to you now with repentance on my lips and in my heart. Please turn my heart away from any idols in my life and turn it towards you. You are the fountain from which all blessings flow and I will praise you, Elohim, as long as I shall live. You are the one true God. You are my deliverer and the opener of my womb. You have healed my barrenness by revealing your Son and your Spirit without which I would be lost in darkness. I pray against any attack of the enemy on my mind. May the works of satan in my life be destroyed by fire. Seal any crack or crevice that gives the enemy entrance to my mind, will or emotions. Use my hands to glorify you and destroy the works of the enemy through your Son, Jesus Christ. Remove anything and anyone from my life that does not align with your divine will for my life and my destiny in you. Grant me the discernment to identify and remove idols from my life. I praise you and thank you for my deliverance. I will glorify you all the days of my life. In the name of Yeshua. Amen.”

right from the heart

Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2014 A Place Where You Don’t Want to Be "The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham's side. The rich man also died and was buried. In hell, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. So he called to him, 'Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.' But Abraham replied, 'Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.' He answered, 'Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my father's house, for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.'" - Luke 16:22-28 If you study the Bible, you’ll find that Jesus painted a pretty complete picture as to what hell is like. In some cases, He spoke literally and in others He spoke more figuratively. He spoke about the suffering of hell. It means being permanently separated from God. It is going to be a place of totally unrestrained evil, where the devil and his demons reside along with all those who have rejected Jesus Christ. That’s not a pretty picture and not a place you want to be. While there is nothing in Scripture that says hell is an eternal torture chamber, it does say it will be eternal suffering and a clear awareness of what you have missed out on. You will realize that your whole life had been a waste because you never responded to Christ. There is the realization that you are permanently separated from God, and that will create great agony. Whatever it may be, you surely don’t want to wind up there. And you don’t have to. Jesus Christ came to save us from hell. He came to forgive us of our sins and make us right with God. Have you claimed this good news in faith? If not, please do so today. Hell is definitely a place from which you want to be saved.

I've met God across his long walnut desk with his diplomas hanging on the wall behind him, and God asks me, 'Why?' Why did I cause so much pain? Didnt I realize that each of us is a sacred, unique snowflake of special unique specialness? Can't I see how we're all manifestations of love? I look at God behind his desk, taking notes on a pad, but God's got this all wrong. We are not special. We are not crap or trash, either. We just are. We just are, and what happens just happens. And God says, 'No, that's not right.' Yeah. Well. Whatever. You can't teach God anything.

“The primary cause of unhappiness is never the situation but thought about it.” ~Eckhart Tolle Has this ever happened to you? Something happens, some kerfuffle or other, like sickness, loss, or unexpected change. And just when you need it most, a friend—whom you considered true and dear—doesn’t stand by you. You feel betrayed. Painful, isn’t it? Painful like the stabbing of 1,000 knives that each bears 100 tiny knives. (So, 100,000 knives in total) This happened to me a few years ago. I’d just graduated from college when I became unwell with chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS). One of the benefits of CFS is that you have plenty of time to work through things. I was angry with many friends, and disappointed. But gradually, I came to see that they weren’t the problem—I was. Like most people I had a set of ideals about what a good friend is: A good friend agrees with you, listens to you, stands by you in hard times, and bakes you cookies when you need cookies. The trouble is, thinking about friendship in these terms—even though this is how we’re taught to think of friendship—is not very, well, friendly. It can keep us stuck feeling resentful, and make us act selfish and unkind.

Love has two hands: one is gentle, the other one, strong. – Jocelyn Soriano “See then the goodness and severity of God.” – Romans 11:22 When people want to be kind, they are often expected to be passive. They think they should be tolerant of everything, even when they should already be standing up for the truth and defending others from being abused. On the other hand, when people want to be just, they sometimes move to the other extreme and forget human limitations and weaknesses. They become unforgiving and harsh, and they set out to punish others more severely than they ought. True goodness however is when we are able to be just and kind at the same time. It is when we know when to show tenderness and when to be really strong. “Mercy and truth meet together. Righteousness and peace have kissed each other. Truth springs out of the earth. Righteousness has looked down from heaven.” -Psalm 85:10-11, WEB

ovrcoming life issues

www.http://www.paulawhite.org/life-issues
As born-again believers, peace should be our normal condition, but not everyone enjoys peace as part of their daily lives. Fear and anxiety cause many problems for a believer, two of the major ones being that fear and anxiety clutter your spirit; and can kill your dream, thus derailing your destiny. Fear is “kryptonite” to the believer. Living in turmoil, worry, anxiety, fear and frustration is abnormal for a believer. So, what does the Bible say about fear? Is there any fear that could be considered “healthy?” Let’s examine what God’s Word says. The Bible speaks very candidly about fear and anxiety. There are two types of fear in the Bible: the fear of the Lord and the spirit of fear. The “fear of the Lord” is actually healthy, and encouraged. It does not necessarily mean to be “afraid” of God. Rather, it is a reverential awe of God; a respect for His power and glory. In the same way that we would respect our parents, we would respect and reverence God. The fear of the Lord is also proper respect for His wrath and anger. In other words, the fear of the Lord is a total acknowledgement of all that God is, which comes through knowing Him and all His attributes. The fear of the Lord brings with it many blessings and benefits. For example, Psalm 111:10 says, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding. To him belongs eternal praise.” The fear of the Lord is discussed extensively in Proverbs. Here are a few: “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.” Proverbs 1:7 “The fear of the Lord [tendeth] to life: and [he that hath it] shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.” Proverbs 19:23 “The fear of the Lord [is] a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.” Proverbs 14:27 “In the fear of the Lord [is] strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.” Proverbs 14:26 We can see how the fear of the Lord is healthy, because it provides life, security for your children, protection from evil, confidence, and satisfaction. The fear of the Lord also births spiritual wisdom and knowledge. The second type of fear is harmful to the believer. It is harmful because this type of fear becomes a stronghold that paralyzes the believer. Fearful thought patterns in a believer must be overcome and replaced with the confident thoughts of the Word of God– your very destiny is at stake here! The “spirit of fear” is mentioned in 2 Timothy 1:7, which states, “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” We see right from the beginning that this “spirit of fear” does not come from God, but from Satan, who wishes to steal your destiny and mine. Anxiety is to worry about things that have not happened, and may never happen. Fear is sometimes based in emotional, soulish feelings which looks inward and finds instability. This can be overcome by gaining the right focus, which is upwards in Christ. You don’t face your fears alone – for He has promised, “I will never leave … or forsake you.” Sometimes fear is a demonic attack that comes out of nowhere. Have you ever felt a sudden attack of fear? We must make war against Satan by prayer and using the name of Jesus to cast the enemy out when this is occurring. Now, let’s look at anxiety. Anxiety is different than fear because anxiety pulls and gnaws on your mind and soul, causing health problems and insomnia. Very often, anxiety stems from unresolved mental, emotional, and spiritual issues. An improper diet, drug use, even the use of some anti-anxiety drugs may also contribute to feelings of anxiety. Anxiety is like a spider’s web. It is difficult to isolate one strand of the web from the rest of the web. With anxiety, it may be difficult to isolate one cause from other related factors. This illustrates the need for Christian counseling and prayer. Harmful fear can be based in several different things. The main thing that fear is based in, which Christ took care of on the cross, is sin. When God created Adam and Eve, there was no evidence of fear in man or beast. There was perfect harmony between God and His creation, and man. When sin separates us from God we become fearful and begin to hide from God, just as Adam did. Sometimes there are learned fears that we picked up during our childhood and adolescent years. Other times there is an accumulation of fears that we derive from our parents or peers. Fear can be based in ignorance; the less we know about something, the greater our level of fear. Fear can also be our imagination. Many of our fears are imaginary; they’re about what might happen. It’s what I call False Evidence Appearing Real. Many of our fears come from failing to grasp our position and status in Christ. We are overloaded with guilty feelings and burdened with a poor self-image that leads to fear of failure, fear of rejection, and other qualms. 2 Corinthians 10:3-5, describes these kinds of irrational fears as spiritual strongholds through which our enemy, the devil, seeks to keep us in bondage. These fortresses of fear are established primarily in the mind, and the battle must be fought on the spiritual level. As born-again believers, complete peace should be our normal condition. Fear and anxiety cause many problems for a believer. Having the fear of the Lord brings blessings, but the spirit of fear can derail your destiny. The cure for fear is experiencing the perfect love of Jesus Christ, which casts out all fear. If you are a fearful person, and don’t know the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal savior, I have the answer for you: First, we need to confess our sins and ask God to forgive us through Jesus Christ. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9) Second, we need to confess our wrong to those we have wronged. Asking forgiveness, making restitution, if appropriate, will help roll away the reproach and restore relationships. Jesus said, “Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.” (Matthew 5:24) Third, receive the forgiveness for yourself. “Come now, let us reason together, saith the LORD; though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.” (Isaiah 1:18) When you are saved, you are placed into union with Jesus Christ. You are one with Him, united in His death, burial, and resurrection. You are His adopted child, placed into His forever family. You are no under condemnation. (Romans 8:1) You are completely accepted by Christ despite inconsistent behavior. (Ephesians 1:3-14) God never accuses you or berates you. (Romans 8:31-39)

Life repeats itself mindlessly - unless you become mindful, it will go on repeating like a wheel. Thats why Buddhists call it the wheel of life and death, the wheel of time. It moves like a wheel: birth is followed by death, death is followed by birth; love is followed by hate, hate is followed by love; success is followed by failure, failure is followed by success. Just see! If you can watch just for a few days, you will see a pattern emerging, a wheel pattern. One day, a fine morning, you are feeling so good and so happy, and another day you are so dull, so dead that you start thinking of committing suicide. And just the other day you were so full of life, so blissful that you were feeling thankful to God, that you were in a mood of deep gratefulness, and today there is great complaint and you dont see the point why one should go on living.... And it goes on and on, but you dont see the pattern. Once you see the pattern, you can get out of it.

"From doing A Moon for the Misbegotten, I've learned that nobody's love can save anybody else. There are people who want to die, and nothing or nobody will stop them. The only one who can save you is yourself." Gabriel Byrne
" Watch the waves in the ocean. The higher the wave goes, the deeper is the wake that follows it. One moment you are the wave, another moment you are the hollow wake that follows. Enjoy both--dont get addicted to one. Dont say: I would always like to be on the peak. It is not possible. Simply see the fact: it is not possible. It has never happened and it will never happen. It is simply impossible--not in the nature of things. Then what to do? Enjoy the peak while it lasts and then enjoy the valley when it comes. What is wrong with the valley? What is wrong with being low? It is a relaxation. A peak is an excitement, and nobody can exist continuously in an excitement." Osho
